Overview
RSF funds research in economics, sociology, political science, demography, and psychology, particularly work using rigorous methods (randomised evaluations, natural experiments, large datasets) to understand social inequality, poverty, and labour markets. Open to USA and international researchers
Eligibility
PhD-holding researchers at research institutions worldwide. UNIMA Social Science faculty qualify. RSF funds international researchers with projects that speak to broad social science questions. Malawi’s unique social context (matrilineal systems, one-party history, rapid urbanisation) is a distinctive asset.
Priority areas
Behavioural Science and Decision Making in Context; the Future of Work; Race, Ethnicity, and Immigration; and Social, Political, and Economic Inequality—and in several special initiatives. RSF also hosts working groups that develop and cultivate original social science research in new or understudied fields.
