Wellcome Discovery Awards

Long-term funding for established researchers and teams pursuing bold, discovery research across Wellcome’s remit in human life, health and wellbeing.

For established researchers and teams, Wellcome funds African institutions directly. LMIC organisations are eligible administering organisations.

Your research must:
• Fit within what Wellcome Trust supports in Discovery Research.
• Have the potential to improve human life, health, and well-being.

Your research can be
• in any discipline - including science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), experimental medicine, humanities and social science, clinical/allied health sciences, and public health
• in a single discipline or multidisciplinary.

Staff costs, continuing professional development, materials and consumables, equipment, overheads, travel and subsistence, overseas allowances, fieldwork expenses, inflation allowance, open access charges, clinical research costs, public engagement and patient involvement costs.
