Fixed vs rolling deadlines, and what “closing soon” means
12 Jul 2026 · DRIPS Administrator
How the call status is worked out, so you can plan your submissions.
Each call shows a status that is worked out from its deadline, so the list always reflects what is open today.
- Open — a fixed deadline is set and is more than six weeks away.
- Closing soon — the deadline is within 42 days. Prioritise these.
- Rolling — no fixed deadline; applications are accepted continuously. Apply when your proposal is ready, but don’t let "no deadline" become "never".
- Forecast — the call is expected, but the next round’s dates are not yet confirmed. Note your interest and check back.
- Closed — the deadline has passed.
Planning backwards
For a fixed deadline, work backwards: allow time for institutional sign-off and a DRIPS check, for referees to write, and for at least one full revision. A good rule is to have a complete draft two weeks before the deadline. For multi-stage calls, the first stage (a letter of interest) often comes weeks before the full proposal — plan around the earliest date, not the last.
